Michael Nelson is the Program Director of IDEYAS Training Academy, a peer-led Behavioral and mental Health Organization, that is dedicated to helping individuals, team, programs, and organizations maximize their potential. Michael is a seasoned Certified Peer Specialist, and is admired throughout Montgomery County by those privileged to witness his skills as an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator. Michael is the creative mind behind numerous trainings and workshops that he conducts throughout the state of Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas. He is also a much sought after, prolific public speaker who has addressed multiple mental health conferences and summits, where he highlights the concepts of Recovery and Transformation. Mike has brought his trainings into correctional facilities, where he has promoted the possibilities of a life lived in recovery while upholding a trauma-informed approach, even for those sentenced to life imprisonment. Michael serves on the board of Montgomery County Health Services and also creates, develops, and implements trainings for Creating Increased Connections, a Montgomery County-based mental health organization that falls under the umbrella of Resources for Human Development. All of his experience makes Michael a respected thought leader and educator in his community. Michael truly believes in bringing his peers into active roles in the community so they can support their own recovery and the recovery of others. His mantra is simply: “The only way I can be my best is if I can help you be your best.”
